It was a steamy 90-degree day with high humidity in central Florida when we pulled into the parking lot at a well known theme park. It was the kind of day that when as soon as you step out your air conditioned car, sweat begins to drip from you. It was all the more reason why the parking attendant stood out to me. You see as he was directing cars to their appropriate parking places he was smiling, waving and literally dancing around. While so many others were feeling the angst created by the intense heat he was making the best of it.

In Colossians 3:23 (NIV) it says "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men". Now I don't know where this man was in his spiritual journey but I know one thing, he was modeling for us, the believer, how we should approach our day to day work, regardless of whether we are an owner, boss, manager, clerk, janitor or warehouse worker. The word of God does not say "if you have one of these jobs" rather it says "Whatever you do". When we approach our daily lives, whether at home or work, in this manner, it changes things. There is not much in life we can control, in fact there really is only one thing and that is our attitude. When we have an attitude to relentlessly follow the Lord, then our lives should be transformed by that attitude.

Next time you are stuck in a mundane task remember the theme park parking attendant. I know I will!
